Elections will be held for the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand on Friday 28 February 2025.
One member will be elected from each of the following sectors:
- Early childhood education teachers
- Early childhood education service leaders
- Primary teachers
- Primary principals
- Secondary teachers
- Secondary principals
- Teacher educators
By clicking on the above link, you will be taken to a secure nominations portal where you can create your own personal log-in and submit your nomination.
Completing your nomination online is quick & easy. You will need to:

Create your own personal log-in (username and password)
This will allow you to progressively complete your nomination. The portal will save your progress as you go, so you can log out and come back to your nomination at a later date.
Select the sector that you wish to stand for

This should be the sector that you are currently (or were most recently) employed in.
Provide your personal details

Please provide your full name and registration number, as these are necessary for the verification of your eligibility. You will also be required to submit a valid email address and phone number to ensure we can contact you should any issues arise with your nomination.
Provide details of 2 nominators who support your nomination

Please provide the name, registration number, and email address of two individuals from the same sector in which you are seeking nomination, who have agreed to support your nomination.
An email will be sent to each nominator with a link to endorse your nomination. They must confirm their consent by checking a box and providing a signature.
Provide your resumé, candidate profile statement and photo

Each candidate must provide a candidate resumé, and may provide a profile statement and recent photo. This information will be collated and forwarded to eligible voters wtih their voting documents and included on the online voting site.
Submit your nomination

Once your nominators have completed their part, and once all mandatory fields have been completed, your online nomination can be submitted.
Once submitted, you can track the progress of your nomination by logging back into the portal.
NOMINATIONS CLOSE AT 12 NOON, MONDAY 30 DECEMBER 2024
Nominations must be completed and submitted to the Returning Officer no later than the above time and date.
Please complete and submit your nomination early. Do not leave it until the last minute. Should a nomination be submitted late on the morning that nominations close and be incorrectly completed or refer to an ineligible nominator or seconder, there may be insufficient time to correct the situation and the nomination could be invalidated.
